Exercising while pregnant keeps baby healthy

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Local doctors are weighing in on the benefits of working out while pregnant.
Dr. Linda May said exercising can be beneficial to both you and your baby. As part of research, she trains pregnant women from 13 weeks to the time they deliver.
“I want the kids to be healthier even before they’re born, and that really starts during pregnancy,” said Dr. Linda May, Asst. Professor at Brody School of Medicine. “We train pregnant women during their pregnancy, we follow them, and we track their measurements, like weight, and those types of things during pregnancy.”
Dr. May said staying moderately active by walking on the treadmill or doing yoga poses. Exercising during pregnancy has shown to make a baby’s heart healthier.
